Another great video. This one is worth a watch if you are interested in making t right choice for a diamond. It’s abit long but worth watching if you are about to drop a few grand on a nice stone.
As we have talked about although there are heaps of cheaper stones that are still beautiful, diamonds are the classic stone to use for an engagement ring. However with the benefits of modern technology, there is an increasingly popular and cheap option which is to use man made diamonds in your ring. These diamonds are chemically almost identical to real ones, just as hard and beautiful, and of course quite a bit cheaper.
The most significant benefit, though, is that man made diamonds do not fund conflicts or contribute to the violation of human rights the way the real diamond trade does in many parts of the world. From Sierra Leone to the Democratic Republic of Congo, so-called ‘blood’ diamonds have been used to finance wars that have killed tens of thousands and made millions homeless. The pursuit of profit in the diamond trade has caused human rights violations on a massive scale in countries like Zimbabwe. In 2000, the diamond producing countries met in Pretoria, South Africa, and agreed to a scheme to halt the trade in blood diamonds. The Kimberly Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) was supported by UN Resolution 55/66 in 2003, and called upon all nations involved in the diamond trade to ensure the provenance of diamonds to prevent the use of profits from the trade in conflicts. While the KPCS has reduced the trade in blood diamonds, it has not halted the trade entirely, because compliance with the Kimberly Process is voluntary and there is no effective enforcement mechanism. Trade in illicit diamonds still finances arms purchases and causes human rights abuses in too many countries in the world.
Diamonds can still be your best friend, and they can be forever. When they are manmade, you can also wear them with a clear conscience and be proud of what the symbol of your engagement means!.
I wanted to look a little bit at some of the other kinds of gemstones. Everyone knows a diamond is the first choice for an engagement ring, but there are lots more to consider. Any of these could make a memorable present that will get you browny points!
Morganite is a beautiful clear stone that is generally a peachy color. You may also find Morganite in a pinkish color but these stones are usually color enhanced. Morganite is from the same class of gems as Emeralds yet are rarer to find. The wonderful thing about Morganite is that when stones are found they are generally large and you can cut a nice size stone from them that are often flawless.
The Aquamarine is a very pretty light blue stone. The color of an aquamarine will depend on the region that it was mined from. Aquamarines that come from the North Carolina area have a different shade of blue then the ones from Pakistan. These stones are often able to be cut larger then other gemstones and make great show piece jewelry.
Amethyst is a gorgeous purple color stone that mostly comes from South America. Amethyst derives from the same type of stone as the Topaz. A deep and very clear purple is the prime color of stone that you would want if you are purchasing this gem, though all shades of purple are available. This is a very common stone but it can be made into beautiful jewelry.
Proposing to someone is a very special thing and you should be sure you are 100% ready before taking the step of buying an engagement ring. Remember marriage is for a lifetime and you should put a lot of thought into what will best fit your special someone and your budget. There is heaps of things to keep track of when actually choosing the ring. Luckily there are heaps of resources out there, I have found a good set of tips here: Choosing a ring.
It’s not a bad idea to have another little gift standing by as well to make the occasion extra memorable. It doesn’t have to cost an arm and a leg, there’s plenty of cheap gift ideas around like chocolates, flowers, etc.
You should plan on a romantic place to get down on one knee and make it a moment she will never forget. What an amazing feeling you will get when you get down on one knee with that beautiful engagement ring and ask her to marry you. When you see her face light up with that big smile and tears come to her eyes. When you put that ring on her finger and she knows it’s forever. She won’t be able to wait to call all of her friends and brag and show off that beautiful ring you worked so hard to buy her. She will be forever grateful. Then when your lives start as one and the fun begins as husband and wife and you can tell your children about that special day when you proposed to their mother.
OK time for the next step (of course there will be some stuff in between)
For those who are not having to stick to a strict budget or have been saving to make the most out of their proposal you can choose some more over the top proposals. An example of this is taking her on a trip to a place she has always wanted to visit. If you choose to take her to a country with castles you could take her on a tour of one and propose to her in front of the beautiful site. You could also take her to a fancy restaurant and do something over the top like have these waiters bring out the engagement ring in her or by her dessert. These romantic notions will be sure to get you a “yes” to your important question.
When you do you decide to pop the big question many men wonder if they should get down on one knee. The majority of women will find this a very romantic gesture. Another good tip is to think of something romantic to say to her while you are proposing. You do not have compost a sonnet but just saying a few words on why spending the rest of your life with her is so important will mean the world to her. Another option is to have a romantic song playing in the background. One last tip is see if you can get someone to capture the moment on camera. Most women are very sentimental and would love to have a picture of the moment that changed their life forever. You will both be thankful for it years down the road.
And hey if you are really short for ideas… here is a massive list!
So I thought I’d start this blog by posting about how to actually get a date in the first place… a good step ifyou want to be popping the big Q one day ;)
Asking her for a date will come naturally and it will help if these conditions are met. You must have something in common with her like a love of sports, outdoor activities or music. Should this be the case, and she is not attached, she will be more than happy, in most cases, to go out on a date participating in an activity you have in common.
It is important to keep in mind that you must act naturally and go with the flow. Do not rush things out of fear someone else will ask her out first. If this is one of those bets with a friend of who will get a date first or something to boost your ego, no good will result from this encounter.
Be natural and do not be shy or self-conscious. You are participating in an act that has been a tradition for centuries. The girl will not think it odd to be asked out on a date. This is the method as to how to ask a girl on a date.
